Hello everybody. I think the past three years have shown that one thing we can expect from climate change in Europe is more and more heatwaves. I am growing a few plants including vegetables in my garden, and this summer is tough on them... For now I can water them so I do, but I am scared that there will be restrictions in the near future or that it will cost me more to water them than buying the same vegetables in the supermarket... Is there a way to protect my garden?

I am interested in a solution as well.
I am not an expert on the topic, but I guess Permaculture techniques provide solutions for this problem. Maybe someone here knows. One thing I know could help is mulch. You can put some cut grass, leafs or wood chips at the foot of your plants. It helps with the soil also. It keeps the humidity inside the soil.
I have also heard of something called Food Forest, where you design your garden with different layers. So it is like a forest in the end with tall trees, medium trees, bushes and small plants. I guess that would protect your plants in summer.
Otherwise, do you have the possibility to crate shadow in your garden in summer ?
I will look into it thanks!
@lowa I think it is a question that many people have or will have in the future. I will write an article about it and try to point towards books and ressources that you can refer to.
Hey @lowa, I published an article that might answer to your question.
I will work on further articles regarding this topic, presenting permaculture and food forests.

Thank you!
@GaetanC Could there be a focus for people who don't have access to real gardens, but want to grow in pots on a balcony ?
@ChristoPher Sure, that is a good topic also. I will look into it!
Good advice, thanks for the tips ๐
